Big Band & Jazz - Big Band Boom

The return of spring means the return of one of Lexington's longest-running and most beloved concert series – Big Band & Jazz. With a full schedule of live music planned, concert-goers can enjoy a weekly big band or jazz music at Moondance Amphitheater and Ecton Park. Picnics are encouraged and patrons should bring a lawn chair or blanket for seating. Admission is FREE!
Patriotic Concert

Spend the Fourth of July eve with the Lexington Philharmonic and a thoughtful program celebrating America. Bring your blankets, lawn chairs and a picnic or enjoy dinner from a variety of food trucks.

Fourth of July Festival
Thursday, July 4th, 10am to 3pm at Robert F. Stephens Courthouse Plaza @ 120-150 N. Limestone
Enjoy live music and children’s activities, or shop for arts and crafts and get a good spot to watch the parade. Food and beverage vendors will be on-site to help with your lunchtime needs. Festivities take place before and after the parade.
Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular

Close out your Fourth of July celebration with a bang! The fireworks extravaganza will start at approximately 10 p.m. Admission is FREE!
Fourth of July Parade
Thursday, July 4th, noon to 1:30pm at 200 Main Street
The Fourth of July parade steps off at noon and will move down Main Street from Midland to Mill Street. There will be plenty of red, white and blue to get everyone in the patriotic spirit. Admission is FREE!
Free Trash Disposal Day
Saturday, July 13th, 6am to 1pm at Bluegrass Regional Transfer Station - 1505 Old Frankfort Pike
The City of Lexington, along with the Bluegrass Regional Transfer Station, is offering Fayette County residents a free trash disposal day for non-hazardous household waste. 
 
Fayette County residents can dispose of up to one pickup truck load of non-hazardous household waste at this event. Residents can also bring items in a car or SUV.
 
Items normally serviced through the city’s curbside collection program will be accepted without charge. Construction and demolition debris as well as yard waste and large outdoor items will be accepted at the regular gate rate during the event; they do not qualify for free disposal.
